Scoreline:

Syracuse put the pressure on early against West Point. Syracuse took the ball deep into Black Knight territory and after a quick tap from the five meter and a few offloads they found the try zone. The conversion failed and Syracuse took an early 5-0 lead. With only a few minutes left in the shortened 20 minute half the Knights answered back. After a good counter by the West Point back three, the ball was inside the five meter. The forwards took over and Lant Fogarty, playing 8 Man, powered in from a couple meters out for the score. After a failed conversion, the half ended with an even 5-5 score.

Eight minutes into the second half West Point struck again. Off of a scrum from the five meter, Fogarty picked the ball and went to the blind side. Two quick passes got the ball out wide to wing Joe Gardner who drove through several defenders to score. The Black Knights kept up the attack and put together some good phase play. Only a few minutes later West Point found the try zone again. After a scrum from midfield, the Knights made positive gains and controlled the ball. From 22 meters out the ball went to inside center Justin Turner. ’JT’ would not be denied and with some tough running broke several tackles and scored a try between the posts. The conversion was successful leaving the score 17-5. West Point kept control of the ball for much of the rest of the half. With two minutes left outside center Dom Latino converted a penalty kick from 22 meters out putting the score at 20-5. The Black Knights maintained possession of the ball until time expired and picked up the victory.
